Perhaps under normal "found" conditions this is true, we sure see plenty of beat up beads. But on the other hand there are plenty of examples of ancient beads and other objects coming out of the ground or a tomb in pristine like new condition.

No clear cut rules, that is what makes it sooooo interesting, yes?
