Since starting online bead searching, melons elude me. I find new 5mm and 8mm Czech rounds, but very very few other glass melon beads. There are some gemstone melons, but why do glass bead makers seem to shy away?

I search melon, pumpkin, carved, oblate, lobed beads.

This deep red large rondelle melon bead was the only one of it's kind in a jar of opaque glass Czech beads, swap meet. Not a great photo, but the red melon is now the center bead in one of my necklaces. I saw an entire graduated strand of these melon rondelles on ebay a year ago, but it sold far beyond my reach. I haven't seen another of these beads since, in any color.
