What I find interesting about the purse and the time frame you mention is the beading decoration is a mix of woodland and western plans American Indian designs. With the leather (deer skin) lining maybe it a purse beaded by an American Indian woman being held in one of the "prison schools" in Nebraska I mean (Indian Schools).

Just a thought.
