If one consults my 2010 paper for the Borneo Beads Conference, one would know that my expressed opinion is that "Venetian-like" Borneo beads are actually Venetian beads.

I will send a PDF of my article to anyone who asks for it and provides an eddress.

Over the previous fifteen (15) years, Borneoans have been receiving and using Javanese reproductions of Borneo heirloom beads (that I have shown here). I acquired them in 2010, 2015, and (at Tucson) in 2020. These were made by Nurwakit, whom I met in Java in 2008. He also has made rather compelling reproductions of modern Venetian blue chevron trade beads.

I recommend caution in assuming a necklace is authentically old, versus a recent piece made with Javanese beads. In 2015 I photo-documented the collections of the Tun Jugah Foundation--some of which I have been shown here.
