If you scroll back through BCN posts you will see that all cases where you have to click on a filename to see the image, the extension is .jpeg, not .jpg.
The older version of the Mac program was iPhoto and it produced files with the extension .jpg.
For many years, filename extensions were capped at 3 letters. Extensions can now be four letters. I’m not an expert in this regards but I think it has something to do with the changeover from 16- bit technology to 32-bit. My new computer is 64-bit and will not run any 32-bit software. That’s about all I can add at the moment. Perhaps the extension issue only affects the output from Apple products. I have not worked on PCs for over 15 years so don’t know whether this issue affects image files from them.
I don’t think the OP was trying to post a link. They were trying to post an image from a program that uses the .jpeg extension for image files. Probably without knowing what the filename looked like, probably was doing a cut and paste.
