It has been awhile since I have posted to this Forum, but have a little more time on my hands at present so when the cry went out for sharing beads, thought I would share a few bits and pieces from my collection. Attached are two necklaces of agate and carnelian beads from Egypt's Middle Kingdom, Dynasty 11 - 12, ca. 2025–1760 B.C. measuring 19 1/2 in. (49.5 cm) and 23 inches (58.42 cm).
Necklaces of uniform or graduating spherical beads were fashionable during the Middle Kingdom. Beads of the same size and material were often worn in multiples during this time. Quite extraordinary to think they were hand made over 4000 years ago.
