That's probably what it was, first an old bead, then used as a pendant. The hole goes all the way from top to bottom of the photo, with good wear. And the hole in the center is only half way and seems to have been put in later.

I used it to make a bracelet with some old Afghan lapis, some Indo-Pacific glass trade beads from Cambodia and some carnelian faceted bicones from Sukothai, Thailand. The silver is Yemeni.
