It is hard to properly answer: as you know, often the Mizoram carnelian beads in the market are barrel shaped, whereas the smaller, rounded beads are rarely found by themselves in a strand (usually they were strung either mixed with barrels, or gathered at the ends of strands mostly made of barrels).
Thus, to make this particular multistrand necklace I had to cut many of such mixed strands.
I am not very good at arithmetic, but after measuring the carnelian only on the longest and the shorter strands (62+42=104 cm), then (104x2=52 cm), I believe there are about 8 standard strands (say 50 cm/ 19,6" long)in this necklace.

The stringing required more than a week, as mere fractions of millimeter would mean a great difference. It was "tailored" on the dummy, with the help of dozens of pins.
