1) Having know Ernie Buchholz, I would agree that most or all of his stuff was from West Africa.

2) As far as I know, or have witnessed, the very large cornaline d'Aleppo beads have only come from an African context. I cannot think of any from Asia. (If we disregard the ones that are seen on sample cards, of course.)
