I don't associate them with lions, since the frontlegs are not protruding and suggest more they are tucked under the body. My first thought when I saw them was that they were sitting like a camel - a very proud head-, yet no long neck, no hump,- or a doe a deer, yet no horns or antlers, , so since Bactrian culture has nomadic roots I got stuck with a horse?
