In the new necklace, I have taken a commercial braided nylon utility line, dyed it jade-green, and used it as the body of the necklace. Using a smaller braided line that I also dyed in the same bath, I have made a double-braided loop that goes through the pi, and then has the necklace line passed through it; and a single braid is placed horizontally between the two. These braids are all one single continuous strand—which is the most clever thing about the necklace. See the detail below. The big line has a braided loop sewn on one end, and the bead closure knotted and sewn on the other. The sewn mountings are covered with green suede. This is a simple but elegant way to present a single carved piece as a necklace.
