Myriad Tibetans exiled themselves on the tracks of the Dalai Lama's flight into India, where He was offered a refuge in Dharamsala, in the beautiful valley of Kangra; he still has in the nearby village of McLeodGanj his official residence. Among these expatriates, many earn their living as cratfmen and merchants, and have blended into their culture number of Indian traits.
These Tibetan turquoises were thus strung in the traditional Indian style.
