Ok, this is vague, but I am gonna ask as I think that someone in here surely knows about this and can recall the accurate details and the reference information. Long ago I read about a jewelry designer from the time span ~1920-1960's (not sure) that had incorporated pieces of old Roman mosaic glass (broken pieces of beads??) into pins/jewelry she/he was making. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Can anyone clear up my probably inaccurate memory and fill in the blanks please? I have a vague memory of seeing a photo of one of the broaches that incorporated a chunk of the old bead in the design. I'm also thinking it may have been a DZI agate (broken) rather than a Roman mosaic fragment. Thanks for your help. I know this will ring a bell with somebody in here.
