This past week at the Tucson show, I saw new Indian versions of the old spiraled rolled-pad beads (that are black with red and white stripes).

Consequently, I am reasonably sure the bead(s) you ask about are composed entirely from new beads from India. This is sensible, because there would be fewer chances for incompatibility to occur.
