Does anyone on the forum know anything re Mammoth Ivory ? A cousin inherited a silver and Ivory, Huguenot, snuff box, circa 1660 ( which my grandma kept pins and postage stamps in !). He loves the history ( the family had connections to Spitalfields silk weavers ) but is 'embarrassed' by the Ivory. A friend suggested that the material might be Mammoth Ivory...whatever that is ? Like many others I have a few handed down Ivory beads which are now hidden away !
