I'm not clear about your comment that sautoirs were worn diagonally. (I'm picturing something looped from one shoulder, across the body, and under the opposite arm, but that couldn't be right.) Could you explain further?

PS: I wish your son could build his Garden Bridge on the remnant of the old eastern span of the Bay Bridge, in Oakland, CA, USA, or around Black Point in San Francisco to create a continuous coastal path in the northern part of the city!
