I recently learned that the following book has finally been published. It is based on an archaeological conference session held in 2013:
Bar-Yosef Mayer, Daniella E., Clive Bonsall, and Alice M. Choyke
2017 Not Just for Show: The Archaeology of Beads, Beadwork and Personal Ornaments. Oxbow Books, Oxford and Philadelphia.
It contains 13 articles grouped into four sections: 1) socio-cultural reflections, 2) audio and visual social cues, 3) methodological approaches, and 4) experimentation and technology. There is a lot of new and interesting material here.
A detailed abstract is available at:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/320112044_Not_Just_for_Show_The_Archaeology_of_Beads_Beadwork_and_Personal_Ornaments
Supposedly the full text is also downloadable here but it didn't for me despite several tries.
The Table of Contents and a good portion of the text is available at:

Or just Google the title.
Happy reading!
