It really puzzles me too that these export porcelain as well as the cinnabar lacquer beads from the 1980s are now regarded as rare precious items by sellers... In the late 80s the porcelain bead necklaces were retailing for under 40.00. At that time, I worked at General Bead in SF and they used to get various job lots...and I got about 1/2 shoe box worth of Chinese porcelain beads ($10.00 total) in 3 different designs with plenty for necklaces for mom, sis and sister-in-law. Made bracelets with the leftovers.
