I have no idea what the bead is. I purchased the bead several years ago. The seller said it was an old Venetian bead. I thought it is pretty so I purchased the bead. After I had the bead in my possession for a while. I thought maybe it is an ancient bead. I photographed the bead. Then sent photos to several people asking their opinion. Most thought it was old. Most probable what the seller said it was. Without having the bead in hand they would not commit to an identification. So several years later I thought I would post a photo of the bead to see what might happen.

The bead has a brick red core. The measurements are 18mm X 15mm with 3mm hole on one side and 4.5mm hole on the other side. If my senior citizen brain remembers correct I paid less the $10.00USD
