There were loads of these around about 15 years ago in HK and Bangkok. Every one had a different story where they were from. I eventually found an (unverifiable- which means I forgot who and where)source that said they Iranian knapped and drilled glass bangle bits circa 7th century. Most of this stuff is traded via Afghan runners.
