Oh yes, and the shipyards on the bay during world war 2 helped contaminate the bay as well. Lots of effort has gone into cleaning this up prior to waterfront subdivisions in Vallejo, for example. In Point Richmond, there is signage right next to a fishing dock pretty much explaining....."eat the fish you catch here at your own risk due to mercury levels, and only eat it once every 6 mos, and if you are pregnant, do NOT eat it....."
