The enthusiasm for Southeast Asian ancient (and new) beads in Bangkok reminds me of American Southwest silver and turquoise craze which seemed to dominate the United States jewelry market in the early seventies -when lots of people wanted to have a squash blossom necklace. Even Liberace had a turquoise and silver shop at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas at the time.
