It is a very sad day.
Just Tuesday, I waved Peter off for his trip to NY at Schiphol airport, from where the flight took off. Most of my family has been on this flight before, as it connects to Australia where one of my sisters lives.

So far, the full list of names has not come out yet. It is indeed such a great number of people, that most people know somebody that has lost someone. Peter has worked for several organisations that work ons HIV prevention. Many people on the plane were heading for a conference on HIV/AIDS research. So far, nobody he knows well, but we are really waiting for the list.
One of the people heading for the conference was interviewed for a newspaper here. His interview which, as the article states, was done just before he stepped on a plane. The editors did not know he was on that flight. So on the front page was the crash, and several pages later, a cheerful interview with this man about how much progress was being made on AIDS research.

It is a sad day for too many people......
