Original Message:   many thanks Floor for organising a very jolly meeting
It was a lovely day and really interesting to see how beads are regarded in another European centre (different from UK) where it didnt feel so extremely competitive- I went just for a day- the weather was really comfortable and was it 14 or 15 bead enthusiasts all sat down for a lunch "al fresco" together- there were even a good number of men not just passive partners but collectors and connoisseurs - although Floor must have been the youngest among us. I didnt get everyone's names but hope some of the newer people will dare to appear here and tell their stories- For me the fair was also a good warm-up on beads made in Indonesia as there were "Bead Brothers" and some other importers- i now have a much better idea what to look for when i go to Kuching for the BIBCO conference in 2 weeks time. Meanwhile another reminder about the Bead Society of Great Britain bead fair next Sunday and i hope Floor wont mind me announcing that she decided to get a one-day return ticket so as not to miss it! i had just enough time to take a hurried shot with my phone in the Allard Pierson Museum of the case with display from the Van der Sleen bead study collection -(unfortunately you cant read the labels) Thanks to Floor!
