Because the finial is flat on the bottom, I wonder whether it may have been adapted from former usage as a knob on a lid for a teapot or other such container. Notice the difference in the color of the enamel and the patina of the metal; these differences are testimony to "age". Highlander, you have used the words: "Antique, vintage and new."
