Original Message:   Chevron knock-offs
I have some questions about fake chevrons. These are photos of some that I have had for at least 3o+ yrs. In more recent years these reproductions have gotten much nicer, clearer glass and better pattern clairity. Is there a time line of the progression of these chevrons. Being that these beads do not enjoy the same resale value as venetian chevrons....are there some that enjoy more value then others? I'm not sure where these chevrons were made. I havn't ruled out India as a soruce. The glass is very pourous and look a little like sand cast beads. I think that of all the reproductions, this type are the most misrepresented as venetians. I'm trying to get as much info as I can because I want to put them in my ebay store and I trying to collect as much info on these as I can. Mainly for those who don't mind collecting fakes.... I know that very old sand cast beads can be more collectable then newer ones. These were perhaps rounded up in africa....I'm guessing that because of what there strung on... SO.....What can you guys tell me so I can help these ugly chevrons find a good loving home.
