Original Message:   Face cane ... What is it on??
One of the nice things about being an accomplished Jeweler/Lapidary is that you get to fondle many precious objects that you might otherwise never get to hold in your hands. Fred contacted me about working on just such an item and I thought it might be fun to get feedback from all of you collectors on just exactly what you think this was originally made for.

When I first received this I looked at it briefly and put it down, later in the evening I had a much closer look and was amazed at what I saw. One of the coolest things were the four faces that are on it. The piece is a myriad of random canes and then to top it off there is the aventurine.

I am posting these two images to see what feedback comes in and then I will post a few more to show you what I did for Fred later on. One question I have is regarding the face cane in the piece, I have seen on this forum images of face canes in various pieces and can’t for the life of me remember who the premier face cane maker was, if I am right the face canes in this piece are from that person.

early on forgot to include the size its 47mm 1.85 inch long and 25.3mm 1 inch at its largest diameter

Give a guy a little feedback!!

All my best ........... Danny

P.S. My guess it was made as a walking stick handle.
