Another fanciful bead story is that Hurricane beads are molded glass beads which are made quickly to use up glass as a hurricane approaches and the equipment has to be shut down. I've always thought that story ridiculous. They don't have hurricanes in Czechoslovakia and Germany where the beads are made.
