Original Message:   Fake Turquoise - Oh My!
Hi Bead People, I am a relatively new participant in the "bead world" and know that I have a lot to learn, so please bear with me. I find myself in the very embarrassing position of having sold a beautiful big turquoise bead as "Old Tibetan" when in fact,it is probably some Chinese creation. I assumed it was old Tibetan because I was told it was; now I know that I must research and verify before I sell ANYTHING! I have had a crash course in how to tell real amber from fake, and real coral from fake, but how about turquoise? .... I hesitate to hit with a hammer to see if it is plaster inside! Thanks for your responses in advance!
