Two typical Northeastern Woodlands beaded purses, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederacy), probably Mohawk from Kahnawake Reserve, Quebec, Canada. The first example probably dates circa 1850; the second a decade earlier, of type for commercial sale. Beaded on dark velvet over paper patterns, backed with paper and lined with glazed cotton.
