The easiest way to determine whether this is dyed coral (whether bamboo or not), would be to break a bead and determine whether the color is superficial. Not all dyed coral is bamboo coral (!). If you are willing to break a bead, stand it up on a firm or hard surface, holding with your left hand. Insert a needle that is slightly thicker than the perforation channel; and with your right hand, use a small hammer to strike the needle.
