I wonder why I never saw these sorts of cloisonné beads in the 1970s (?). At that time I often went to the stores of Chinese merchants in San Francisco, that provided new and old beads. (That's where I first found Chinese millefiori beads on tassels—offered as "ceramics.")

I did see and buy occasional new floral cloisonné beads at that time. As well as a few old champlevé beads. I could not afford to buy much—but I saw what was offered.
