Original Message: the Akosu beads |

the biggest ones, mostly splendid bicones that appear to be decorated with the pre-formed "crossed hairpins" or with circles- i'm trying to visualise the order of the making processes - could imagine those beads as decorated cylindrical barrels that were then rolled in a groove to taper the ends into cone-shapes, but that would have involved a mandrel, or axle of some kind? do we really know the construction methods?
