thanks Judy- your second message image shows a magnificent row of the tops of Conus shells - might have been a girdle? and the last one with a quantity of matching cowries. i would really like to know much more about the possibly fossilised shells in the Himalayas that may have been dug from strata of rock or soil- even if different shells are now being used for making beads, maybe imported from the coast...
