Original Message:   Lampwork in Taiwan

There is a lampwork studio in Taiwan. It is in Sandimen village in the south of Taiwan. They started with the specific purpose of reviving the glass bead tradition, and they make a large number of reproduction beads matching traditional Paiwan beads. Their technique is a modern lampworking technique, and the beads are pretty easy to distinguish from the originals. They also make more modern designs, like flowers and such that are fairly generic lampwork beads, in my opinion. I was supposed to visit the studio when I was in Taiwan in 2018, but there was a mix up with the dates. I did get to see a large number of the beads that were made in Sandimen village.
