I'm jumping in here kinda late, so may not be answering the correct question at this point. Although I believe point is knot variety used in Antique & Vintage Chinese necklaces? I see basic Macrame knotting, on what you are calling "square knotting"and a macrame spiral pattern in the last few images. Sounds like you know this though?
