Original Message:   Japanese Buddhist prayer beads

This piece is from the Zen sect of Japanese Buddhism. What I find most interesting is the white plastic bead. It has an image of seated Buddha inside when you hold it up to your eye and look at a light source through it. The only thing I don't know about this piece is what kind of wood it is made of.
