Dear Big, Many of the beads in your grandfather's necklace are plain wound beads—that can be some of the most difficult sorts to identify with any confidence. However, the patterned mosaic-glass bead forming the pendature is a bead I know quite well—because I am the sole person to isolate these from other millefiori beads, and to have an unusual explanation for their manufacture and appearance.
