Hi Finfan I find these fascinating too, because they are clearly made in exactly the same moulds, sizes and shapes as the early "Vaseline" glass beads, and their cousins in other transparent or translucent colours. The early ones have those conical holes, while later they were "improved" to have smooth parallel-sided holes. The conical apertures make them terribly difficult to thread well! Stefany
