Hi Lynne, I'm certainly not an expert. Really, it's very difficult to tell without more detail in the images; one needs good close-ups of each of the patterned beads to be sure if the design is applied in the authentic manner, or if it has been painted on or, alternatively, applied as a paste to an incised groove. At first glance the central bead looks okay, though it's not top quality. And I'd steer clear of the black on white patterned beads which look very suspicious to me. The necklace in your other thread may be a better bet. The beads come from a fairly extended period of time, and Odan's estimate of value is a good deal more than I've been paying recently. The market for etched carnelian seems to be quite soft right now in contrast to the willingness to throw large sums of money at agate or pumtek beads - many of which are almost certainly quite recent.
