Original Message:   Re: Shut down of Ivory trade in California
During the last 50 years I've collected a few pieces of fine antique ivory . Among the collection are things like Asian hat pins, buttons, ojime, netsuke, game pieces, beads and jewelry and figural carvings. North American artifacts and European and American antiques and jewelry. (some of the items were inherited, some were gifts... And in that case can only guess at their age and origin.) Does this new law mean these things will have no monetary value whatsoever and will be considered both worthless and illegal on the market? Or do they have an intrinsic value as art and antiques? Thanks!
