This is an image from my book, Magical Ancient Beads, showing Ulrich Beck's necklace of extraordinary Indo-Pacific beads, of the type called "mutisalah." Unlike many beads, these were not excavated or recovered recently, but rather have been passed down through several generations. They have an amazing patina that can only be appreciated when you see and handle them. The necklace is strung with coins, a nice gold bead, flanked by two 16th C. Venetian chevron beads. JDA.
