Best guess is India, post WWII for sure, maybe as new as 1980's. Other possibility is West Africa, same time period. Hard to tell from the picture but if the beads are very uniform in size & shape, I'd lean toward India. The old brass from Africa tends to be rather irregular and I have never seen a strand with a lot of large, uniform beads like this, sourced from Africa.
