Beadiste, I am guessing at best here.... When first viewed under magnification, I remember my initial thoughts were cherry tree just coming into blossom (leaves not out yet), bamboo (green), and undecided on the blue foliage. The highlighted (yellow) starred object you mention I have no guess. The only other thoughts I had were concerning two objects (see attached photos) associated with the tree branches. One could possibly be a lantern or beehive - this is actually better seen in the bottom picture here:

The other could be a bird or bee (or unopened blossoms?) as seen in the lower pic below, to the right of the star. If these examples were originally intended to be discrete "objects", the individual brush strokes are neccessarily so small I believe the scale or proportion of some of the objects must vary accordingly.
