All I see is a burst of Black Pine in the foreground, some sort of flowering branch overhead, and a bird's eye view of buildings in the background. There is more to decipher and I am well aware of poetic symbolism in Japanese Art, but I would have to see the bead in person and spend more time on it. Maybe someone would like write a paper on this bead alone; I have not seen another one like it and I have been around the block. Specialists in this type of painting could probably make valid assumptions by comparing this with better known Kensan art works. -If you want to study subject and symbolism, see Henri Joly's Legend in Japanese Art. One of the reasons ojime are over glamorized is: Occasionally advanced artists specializing in various media were willing to invest their time and good taste into making a good ojime as an example of their education and skill. This bead turns out to be one of those rare and esoteric examples.
