Original Message:   'billiken' type stone pendant ID
I am very curious about these two stone pendants which I acquired, but am very far out of my wheelhouse here. The best I can come up with is that these are Alaskan Native ‘billiken’ style stone carvings . The only issue there is that they are appear to be much older and much more primitive stylistically then any other carvings of this type I can find reference too. They show a lot of age and in my overactive imagination I can feel the years spent under the tundra. They do show an extensive and seemingly authentic patina of age and wear. Here is what I can tell you as far as actual facts…

They are made from stone.

The smaller one measures around around 2 inches tall and stands on its own.

The larger one is much thicker and measure around 2.5 inches tall.

They both have a stringing hole through the top and were made to be used as pendants.

These came along with a large lot of also ‘billiken’ style bone carvings as well as a big group of Venetian glass trade beads of the type more typical to North American trade.

I would be interested to hear any thoughts on these as they seem quite unique and would be fun to have some back story to them.
