Two beads. Three quarters of an inch, 18mm, in height. High carat gold and ivory. Late 19th century. Meiji era, Japan.

If you were to see these in person, the flaws would not be so apparent and the details may appear to be a tour de force. They are small but powerful.

I am a big fan of detail and realism in beads and art in general. By comparison, I prefer paintings by Vermeer over Monet, for example.

A friend says: "All I see when I look at Ojime is that it takes too long to look at them!" My response: "You look too fast!"
