Original Message:   New Borneo copies?

Decided to start a new thread on the Borneo bead questions- While cruising eBay I found an ad for cufflinks with "Borneo beads". These appear to be modern copies of the "pineapple" design seen on Venetian beads from the trade bead era (second photo). Note that the color scheme is not copied exactly. I have a small group of Indonesian "tributes" to Venetian bead designs (thanks, Floor!) and when examined in person, they are obviously not antique Venetian beads. So I still think nearly all the beads on CoinCoin's strand are Venetian- made but would have to examine them in person to be sure they are not very recent, excellent knock-offs.
