Original Message:   "ETCHED" CABOCHON
Bismillah, Ali! So you are from Iran, if I may ask?

From what city?

I know Teheran, Isfahan and Meshed - from three visits in the past. Especially Meshed (or Mashad) was rather impressive. Not only for the lovely Turquise they have - also for the impressive mosque. But also the Chorasan area is lovely. Any hint, where to look for ancient beads? When asking around in Teheran I quickly had the "VEVAK" asking me questions (...)!

I add two bigger photos of the "etched cabochon" - a darker and a lighter one - hoping to enable you to read and translate the text into English. I literally asked any Muslim I knew - even posted the piece on youtuve sites that dealt with "Arabian languages" - nothing...! Nobody knew.

Since the piece is obviously old (though I am not certain and not convinced it is "real old" [=pre-Muslim]) it might be an old language, one that is no longer in use. Since the writing looks very much "arabic" (for somebody like me, not really familiar with your letters, at least), the piece should be from some place in the Middle East, logic dictates.

But why found in Lothal? What has Harappa and what has India/Pakistan to do with it, I wonder.

The size is 15x15x4mm.
