Original Message:   SCHARRER & KOCH beads in Africa
Not only Scharrer & Koch - with their branch offices in Venice and Gablonz, leave alone their close ties to Nuremberg - also other German bead wholesellers delivered their vitreous goods to the Bavarian Toy-City (Nuremberg).

That opens the door to speculate how Fichtelmountain Beads might have ended up in Africa. Most likely already in the later 18th century, through simelar channels. Trading-houses in Nuremberg had close relations to the slave traders of Liverpool - known to be a main re-exporter of (Venetian) glassbeads to the Westafrican coast. Through same or simelar channels the beads of Gablonz and Bavaria could have reached Africa.
